Georgia '27 🇬🇪
A once in a lifetime chance to see Georgia with Yash. Eight days, one small group, and a country that does everything at once. Glaciers and semi-desert in the same week. Cave cities dug into cliffs. Churches alone on ridges. Some of the oldest wine on earth, and people who will not let you leave the table.
We start and finish in Tbilisi and take the long way round. Small group, local hosts, no coach tours, nobody following a flag on a stick.

The Highlights
Soviet leftovers
- Stalin's birth house and his private armoured train carriage, in the town he grew up in
- A flea market of Soviet medals, badges, old cameras and Party junk, spread out under a bridge in Tbilisi
- A vast Soviet mosaic monument on a hill above the city, started in the eighties and never quite finished
The landscape changes every day
- Glaciated peaks over 5,000m, and a 14th century church alone on a ridge beneath them
- Semi-arid badlands striped pink and orange, right on the Azerbaijan border
- A lake on a high volcanic plateau, if it's still frozen, you can find locals still fishing through the ice in April
- Waterfalls, canyons, travertine terraces and a road that simply runs out at the Russian border
- Vineyards, river gorges and villages that have not changed much in a long time
Ancient and strange
- A city of thirteen levels dug into a cliff face in the 1100s, with tunnels, chapels and wine cellars. We sleep right underneath it
- An unrestored fortress on a clifftop. No handrails, no ticket office, just a scramble and a view
- A cave monastery carved into the rock on the border, monks still living in it
Get stuck in
- Riding horses out through the vineyards
- A bike ride out over the canyon, on a glass floored bridge with waterfalls underneath
- Go up the Georgian Military Highway
- 4x4s up to the church and out into an empty valley of ruined watchtowers
Eat, drink, soak
- Chacha straight off the still, and wine made the way it has been for 8,000 years, in clay jars buried in the ground
- A proper supra with a Tamada running the toasts, in a village, cooked by the family whose house it is
- A long Meskhetian lunch in a stone Oda house, in a place most people drive straight past
- Sulphur baths under the brick domes of old Tbilisi, scrub included
- Potentially a wine bath at San Raam Spa as an added extra
THE FULL SCHEDULE
- These are some of the highlights of the trip (plenty of random stuff in between too). The itinerary is subject to change (however 9 times out of 10, this is to add more adventure, rather than remove!)

- All transport around Georgia, plus airport transfers on Day 1
- Local guiding, entry fees and the experiences above
- Meals as set out in the full itinerary, including the supra and the Meskhetian feast
- Yash hosting the whole thing, start to finish
Not included: international flights in and out of Tbilisi, travel insurance, extra alcohol/drinks and your own spending money.
Georgia in April
Spring down in the valleys, snow still on the peaks, the high plateau frozen solid. Green, dry and quiet, before the summer crowds turn up and while the mountains still look like winter.
